Slack | Connecting to Oyster

The Oyster App for Slack is a way for your company to receive Oyster notifications in a tool you're already using. You can learn about the specific notifications we send via Slack here.

  • Once the integration for Slack is enabled, all the users in the Slack workspace will have the Oyster app for Slack added.

You can only integrate the Oyster App for Slack into one Slack Workspace. So, if your Contractors or Team Members use a different Slack workspace than you, they will not receive Slack notifications.

 

Prerequisites

  • You are logged in to your Oyster account as an Admin
  • You have a Slack account
  • Your Slack account email is the same as your Oyster account email
  • You are a Slack Admin on your Slack workspace (it's OK if you're not - but you might need assistance from your Slack Admin)
    • The Slack Admin does not need to have an Oyster account

Activating the integration

  1. In the left nav, click Company.
  2. Select Integrations.
  3. In the Integrations window, select the Available integrations tab.
  4. Locate the Communications Channels section.
  5. Click Connect.

  1. The integration for Slack window appears. Select the Prerequisites for the integration? checkbox.
  2. Click Connect.
  1. Select the correct Slack workspace from the drop-down, if necessary.
  2. In the Permission window, click to Allow the integration.

If you don't see an Allow button, you must request your Slack Admin assist with the installation.

10. You'll receive a confirmation message via the Oyster App in Slack.
The integration for Slack is enabled and is now available on the My integrations tab.

 

Requesting your Slack Admin assist with installing the Oyster App

In the Request to install window, do the following:
  1. Select the correct Slack workspace from the drop-down, if necessary.
  2. Add a message for your Slack Admin explaining why you are requesting to install the Oyster App. Example:
    This would enable everyone to get Oyster notifications in Slack (in addition to within the Oyster Platform).
  3. Click Submit.

  1. A notification is sent to the Slack Admin in Slack via Slackbot.

  1. Once the Slack Admin approves your request, you will be notified in Slack via Slackbot.
  2. Click the Oyster link in the Slackbot message.

  1. Activate the integration again and Continue as if you are a Slack Admin.
