Assigning roles to users in your Oyster account

This article shows you how to assign access roles to new and current users in your Oyster account.

Prerequisites

  • You have Admin access to your company's account.
  • You are logged in to the Oyster Platform with your admin credentials.

Assign a role to a new user

  1. In the navigation bar, click Company > Settings.
  2. Select the User access permissions tab.
  3. Click Assign access permissions.

  1. Under Invite a new person, enter the user's full name and e-mail address.

  1. Click Assign permissions to assign a role on the company level. If you wish to assign roles on the team level only, click Continue and skip to step 9.

  1. Select the role(s) you wish to assign to the user on a company level.
  2. Click Save.

 

Note: The Administrator role has full access to the platform, so selecting the Administrator role makes the other roles redundant.

  1. An overview will appear confirming the role(s) you have selected. Review them and click Continue

  1. Click Assign permissions to assign a role on the team level. 

     

Note: If you have already assigned roles on the company level, you can skip this step and click Confirm permissions.

  1. Click on the dropdown to select a team.
  2. Select the role(s) you wish to assign to the user on a team level.

  1. An overview will appear confirming the role(s) you have selected. Review them and click Confirm permissions

  1. You'll see a pop up confirming the user has been granted the permissions! The new user will receive an e-mail invitation to join your account.

Assign a role to an existing user

  1. In the navigation bar, click Company > Settings.
  2. Select the User access permissions tab.
  3. Search for the user and click on the three dots next to the user's name.

  1. Select Manage company permissions or Manage team permissions depending on the level of permissions you wish to assign.

  1. Select the role(s) to be assigned to the user and click Save.

  1. You'll see a pop up confirming the user has been granted the permissions. The new role is now activated for the user!
