How do I enable Two-Factor Authentication on my Oyster account?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an extra layer of security to protect your account. It requires two forms of authentication before you can log in, namely:

  • Your password
  • A time-sensitive code sent to your e-mail address or to an authenticator app

Prerequisites

  • You are logged in to the Oyster Platform with your credentials.
  • We recommend having an authenticator app downloaded on your mobile device. Some examples are Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, and Authy.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Oyster platform.
  2. At the top of the left hand side menu, click on your profile and on Profile & Preferences.

  1. In the Account settings tab you will see a Security section. Click on Set up next to Two-Factor Authentication.

  1. Choose the 2FA method you want to set up and click Continue. We highly recommend the authenticator app because it has the highest level of security.

  1. Make sure you have an authenticator app installed on your mobile device. Open the app and scan the QR code. Click Continue.

  1. Enter the 6-digit code shown in your authenticator app and click Verify code

  1. You have successfully configured 2FA on your account! Before finishing, make sure to download or copy the recovery codes somewhere safe. You will need to use these recovery codes if you lose access to your device. You will only see the recovery codes and be able to download them now. Click Done.

Your account is now protected with an extra layer of security! You'll be asked to provide a verification code next time you login.
