How do I start hiring a new contractor?

To hire a new contractor, log in to Oyster and access the Hiring flow.

Our virtual hiring assistant, Pearl, is there to help you every step of the way!

Prerequisites

  • You have Admin access to your company’s account.
  • You are logged in to the Oyster Platform with your admin credentials.

Steps

  1. Click Hire > Start hiring.
  2. Click on the "Select a country" drop-down menu and pick the country of your contractor.
  3. Scroll down to choose how you want to hire. Click the Hire Contractor button.
  4. Enter details about the contractor.
  5. Click Next to continue populating all forms (role information, compensation, benefits, and additional clauses).
    1) New Contractor Details - fill out the information about the contractor (name, email)

    2) Role information - Add details about the role, such as job title, job description, and start date

    3) Compensation - Select the currency of the contract, the contractor's payment type, and whether contractors can submit expenses.

    4) Additional clauses - Select whether you want to use own vs. Oyster contract.
    Whether to include IP clause in the contract. And if needed, use the "Other additional clauses" field to add extra clauses to the contract.
  6. Click Confirm, and you'll reach a "status page" with an overview of the following steps 
  7. Invite the contractor to the platform (How do I invite a contractor to Oyster?)

  8. Once the contractor creates an account and completes an onboarding form, you can "Send for signatures". (How are contracts signed?)
  9. After both parties sign the contract, the contractor is fully onboarded.

    (In case you use your own contract, contractors are fully onboarded after registering into the platform and filling out the onboarding form & payment method - no signature required.)
