Local benefits packages enable you to choose from 2 pre-created benefits packages and offer country-tailored benefits to your team. The benefits can include health, dental, vision insurance, and pension.

Benefits packages 

Companies can choose between Competitive and Best-in-class packages. Some of the coverage highlights include:

  • Full coverage for up to 180 days in public and private hospitals
  • Some refunds on out-of-pocket expenses
  • Full cover for outpatient scans
  • Free dental check-ups, x-rays, and scale and polish
  • Some refunds for major and minor dental treatment costs
  • Full refund on eye exams 
  • Some refunds on prescriptions and eyewear purchases
  • 2 different plans to choose from
  • Dependent coverage - Partner and family
  • Pension (PRSA) has no minimum or maximum contributions for the employer.
  • Service by top Ireland providers

The benefit support fee covers the cost of Oyster managing the whole lifecycle of benefits administration.

Tax information

Benefits in kind taxes apply to all premiums paid by the employer and are born only by the Team Member.

Individuals over 34 years old might have additional fees on their premiums (Lifetime Community Rating, or "LCR") if they were not previously insured. Those costs are borne by the Team Member as well.

Dependents

Spouse and child(ren) can be included in coverage (up to age 20 inclusive). Price will vary according to the age of the dependent.

"Partner" is defined as a spouse or common-law partner.

"Child(ren)" is defined as dependents aged up to 20 years old.

Renewal

While insurance plan renewal happens every 12 months, plans can be readjusted every two months. Those readjustments will only apply to new enrollments. The premium cost for those already enrolled will be locked for 12 months.

The readjustment will be based on the overall claim experience of that insured based on the plan and the local medical inflation.

Pension

Regardless of whether they were offered insurance benefits, all Team Members will be offered access to a Personal Retirement Savings Account (PRSA) through Irish Life. There are no minimum nor maximum employer or employee contributions toward the pension fund, nor are taxes applicable to them.

Other Benefits

If you wish to offer other benefits not listed in this help center article, you can provide allowances through payroll or by approving claims reimbursement through the Oyster platform.  However, there might be taxes applicable to such allowances. Contact Oyster Support for further details.

How to enroll your Team Member in Ireland into a local benefits package

You can enroll your team into local benefits in Ireland from the hiring or in-app benefits flow. 

From the hiring flow:

  1. After you fill out the compensation details, you will be taken to the Benefits section of the hiring form.
  2. Select a benefits package based on your company’s benefits strategy. Here are some recommendations on which to choose:
    • Competitive - if you want to offer benefits that most local employers in that specific country offer and want to remain competitive. 
    • Best-in-class - if you want to offer premium benefits that set you apart. 

      To remain non-discriminatory, it is important to enroll all of your Team Members in the same benefits package.

  3. Make a selection to see the total estimated monthly costs. 

From the benefits flow:

    1. Click People > Benefits from the left menu in your Oyster account.benefitsflow1.png
    2. Review the list of engaged Team Members on the Benefits page and their benefits enrollment status. Click Enroll benefits to enroll a Team Member into benefits.

    3. The Request Benefits Enrollment page opens. Select a plan.

      Local benefits plan options are listed for India, Poland, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, and Spain, and global benefits provider Allianz is listed for other countries.

      Click Send request. Wait for the success message to appear.benefitsflow4.png
    4. The Oyster support team will begin the enrollment process along with the benefits vendors.
