Annual/Earned/Privilege Leaves

As per the Karnataka State Shops and Establishments Act, every employee in the company shall be entitled to annual leave at a rate of one (1) day for every twenty (20) days of work, or eighteen days per year. Further, annual/earned leave can be carried forward and accumulated up to a maximum of forty-five (45) days. Accrued, but unused annual leave must be paid out in the employee’s final payment in case of termination.

Team members are eligible for 18 days of paid holiday per calendar year. Holiday entitlement for the first and last year will be prorated. The holiday year is from 1 January to 31 December of each year. Team members must take the minimum required holiday each year, or eighteen days. Holidays accrued but not used may be carried forward to the following year. The maximum leave days allowed to carry forward in the subsequent year is 45. Any leave including annual leave is subject to receipt of written approval. Team members will not be paid for any accrued but unused holiday, except on termination.

An employer may deny annual leave requests of the employee due to business exigencies / justifiable reasons. Further, as per Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1961 (KSCEA), an employee who applied for an annual leave but was refused the leave, is entitled to carry forward the un-availed leave without any limit.
